The Sinulog Festival Queen is honored every year to personify Hara Amihan or later Queen Juana, the wife of Rajah Humabon. Queen Juana was presented with the Santo Nino by the Spaniards as a way to baptize or “benevolently” conquer them, but more importantly, she is said to have held the Santo Nino in her arms and danced to bless people who were ill.
