Da Nang, Vietnam has been making top must-go lists recently and for good reason—many travelers come to explore the attractions in Bana Hills, and more and more resorts are sprouting along its coast. I came back to Da Nang recently to see for myself why there’s renewed interest for the city, and I stayed in one of its best resorts, Pullman Danang Beach Resort.
Fronting a stretch of the beach, Pullman Danang Beach Resort is about a 15-minute drive from the airport and about a 45-minute drive from the historic city of Hoi An. Da Nang’s downtown isn’t far away either, and thanks to ridesharing apps like Grab, it’s now inexpensive to get around the city.
Pullman Hotels and Resorts is a brand under the esteemed Accor group, where it joins equally renowned brands like Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles, Novotel, and Movenpick. It offers “hotels and resorts in tune with today’s mobile world, blending peak performance and personal well-being.”
From Hoi An, I hired a car from Grab for about 12 USD, and it was a rather quick drive. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by charming and friendly hosts who sorted out my reservations. It wasn’t before long that I was handed the key to my room, which, as I was told, was recently renovated.
While the usual Pullman hotel offers sleek and corporate-looking rooms, the room I had in Da Nang was truly akin to one in a resort, and it was modern yet subtly reflective of Vietnamese design aesthetic. The view it offered from its balcony was that of the pool below and the sea beyond.
As expected of a five-star resort, it had everything I needed for my beach holiday—foremost of which was the cozy Pullman signature bed, which, as always, did not disappoint. The bathroom, which had a nice tub, was immaculate, and it came stocked with branded amenities by C.O. Bigelow.
I had my three squares at Restaurant Epice, the resort’s bright and airy all-day dining restaurant. For breakfast, it serves a rather large buffet consisting of Vietnamese, Asian, and Western dishes—with live stations to boot.
As for lunch and dinner, they served me a range of East-meets-West dishes, with Vietnamese fare brought to the fore. Most memorable for me was their take on the local favorite, com ga (chicken rice), as well as the classic spring rolls.
The resort can arrange activities within and outside the premises, both paid and complimentary. What I tried was the coffee-making class, where I was taught how to craft a potent mug of ca phe from locally-sourced beans.
My favorite parts of the resort were, of course, the pool and the long, wide white sand beach. The pool was also renovated recently, and it looked really, really gorgeous.

Complementing these are a host of other facilities like a fitness center, a spa, and a kids’ club.
