Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 is the most recent addition to the Accorhotels portfolio in Bangkok. Prior to its opening last year, there had been seven other Novotel properties in the same city, including one in Suvarnabhumi Airport. I recently stayed at the said hotel to check out how it measures up against other Novotel properties and the rest of the competition.
Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20, as the name suggests, is located along Sukhumvit Soi 20. Being in that area means walking distance from both Asok and Phrom Phong BTS Stations, and the Sukhumvit MRT Station. Also nearby are the popular shopping complexes Terminal 21, Emporium, and EmQuartier, as well as a handful of restaurants, bars, and clubs.
We arrived in the hotel late into the afternoon and took time adoring its lobby—it was hip, vibrant, and decorated beautifully. An associate gave us our keys a few moments after confirming our reservation, and we headed for the lifts at once.
Our room featured the template designed by Atome Associés for Novotel hotels globally, with its key attributes being space, transparency, and light. A combination of earth tones, wooden panels, and colorful patterns were utilized to make the room’s atmosphere feel both modern and relaxing.
Being new, the hotel already fitted its rooms with the cozy Live N Dream by Novotel bed, which features a flex-slatted bed base that matches and absorbs movement, a memory foam mattress with pocket springs that adapts to the shape of the back, a warm but light duvet, Smart Pillows that can be folded when sitting up or unfolded when lying down, and lastly, rectangular pillows for neck support.
The room likewise featured an array of conveniences, including an LED TV, an electronic safety box, a minibar with tea and coffee making facilities, plenty of universal power outlets, and a working desk with multimedia connectivity. The spotless bathroom, meanwhile, was fitted with a rain power shower, and it was completely stocked with towels and eco-friendly amenities.
We had our breakfasts at Food Exchange, the hotel’s elegant-yet-casual international buffet restaurant. On offer was a great spread consisting of Western, Asian, and Thai items.
Our schedule in Bangkok was quite packed, but we did have time to check out the hotel’s facilities, including the gorgeous infinity pool, the state-of-the-art fitness center, and the kids’ club.
IN A NUTSHELL: WHY STAY THERE?
-
The rooms are modern, nicely decorated, and well-appointed.
-
The Live N Dream by Novotel beds are among the most comfortable hotel beds.
-
The location is convenient, being in between Nana and Asok.
-
Nightly rates are affordable and thus great value-for-money.
