It’s no secret that Seminyak is quite a pricey location to stay in, especially compared to other locations in Bali. After all, it’s the hub of high-end lifestyle—luxe parties, classy restaurants, and the like. Resorts there charge a premium for stays, but one resort in the area, Montigo Resorts Seminyak, offers luxury accommodations at a more affordable price tag.
Montigo Resorts Seminyak is situated in the heart of Seminyak, along a row of high-end resorts, boutiques, and restaurants. Right beside it is the famous Potato Head Beach Club, one of the area’s hottest partying hotspots. And with the abundance of Grab and Go-Jek cars, getting to and from the resort from elsewhere in South Bali is easy and affordable.
After a four-hour direct flight from Manila, I was picked up from the airport by one of the resort’s courteous staff and was checked-in swiftly at the resort’s appealing open-air lobby—which was a relief, as I was tired at that point.
The room was spacious and had an inviting color scheme. Thoughtful Balinese touches were incorporated into the design, while making the room look modern altogether.
It had the conveniences travelers can expect of a five-star resort, starting with the king-sized bed, which I found to be extraordinarily comfortable. The large bathroom, on the other hand, had a tub, as well as a suite of fragrant amenities.
In front of the room, meanwhile, was the private garden that had patio seating.
The entire time I was there—and I spent most of my time in the resort—I had my three squares at TIIGO, the resort’s all-day dining restaurant. The breakfast buffet was a modest selection of Western and Indonesian fare, which I found to be enjoyable.
As for lunch and dinner, I was able to try out the restaurant’s extensive local and international menu. I loved the bebek goreng (fried duck), the Balinese tapas, and the raspberry panna cotta.
One afternoon, I also had the chance to embark on a relaxing journey at Montigo Spa, where I was treated to an awesome Balinese massage. The ambiance of the spa was superb, while the therapist was clearly adept at her craft. It was such a memorable experience.
Since again, I spent most of my time in the resort, I was able to enjoy its facilities fully. Aside from the spa, the resort has three nicely-landscaped swimming pools, a fitness center, and a staffed kid’s club, which is touted to be the biggest in the area.
