The Millennium Seoul Hilton had its grand opening in 1983, which makes it more than three decades already. Clearly, this hotel that lies on the foot of Mount Namsan is a classic, but with major renovations being completed as recent as October 2015, it has certainly kept up with the times.
The Millennium Seoul Hilton enjoys an enviable location, just a few minutes by foot or by free hotel shuttle bus to Seoul Station, linking it conveniently to practically almost all of Seoul. The popular shopping hotspots, Namdaemun Market and Myeongdong, are also reachable by walking.
The moment I entered the hotel, I was astonished—the lobby was grand and ostentatious, and it had a huge atrium that are such a rarity even among luxury hotels these days. The lobby was only fitting for a grand dame, a landmark hotel like the Millennium Hilton Seoul.
I was directed to the Executive Lounge, where I was checked in and handed my keys quickly. Having an Executive Room meant staying in a high floor and getting a view of Mount Namsan, so I was pleased with the upgrade.
The room was tastefully designed and meshed with local influences, and it was apparent how it was given a facelift, with how new it looked and felt. It was also spacious by Seoul standards that there was more than enough room for the rollaway bed we requested.
Being a room in a Hilton, all the conveniences expected of a high-end hotel were present, starting with The Hilton Bed by Serta, which features patented technology that “improves circulation and reduces night time restlessness.” The bathroom, set in marble, had a powerful shower and amenities by New York-based brand, Peter Thomas Roth.
Since we were staying in an Executive Room, we had access to either Executive Lounge—and it was the first time I’ve been to a hotel that had two. Both lounges had pretty much the same elegant design, fantastic view, and offerings, so for us, it was a choice whether which one was less full.
At the lounges, we partook on modest continental breakfasts, consisting of Western, Asian, and Korean items. We also tried their evening cocktails, which had an array of food that was above average in terms of variety.
Although days in Seoul were busy, I still had time to check out its five-star facilities like its indoor swimming pool and its fitness center. By the way, the hotel is attached to the popular Seven Luck Casino via a walkway.
