Having gone up the Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) or the Menara Kuala Lumpur several times, it’s honestly one of those city attractions that are been-there-done-that for me. But recently, I heard they’ve a new thrilling attraction—the Sky Box—and seeing the photos, I thought it was undoubtedly a reason to come back.
Arriving at KL Tower, we went up to the Sky Deck, which is more than a hundred floors up the telecommunications tower. What it provides visitors is a majestic 360-degree view of Kuala Lumpur’s skyline.
Since I’ve already experienced the Sky Deck before, I rushed to the queue for the Sky Box, which looked thrilling as soon as I set my eyes onto it. Basically, it’s an entirely glass box sticking out of the Sky Deck, supported by a steel frame and suspended 300 meters above ground.
As my turn came, I was reminded of two rules: that only six people can occupy it at a time (for obvious reasons) and that shoes must be taken off before getting inside. And I soon as I made my first steps into the box, I saw the drop below me—and having no shoes added to the adrenaline!
It took a few minutes for me to get the hang of it, and when I did, I was happily taking photos of those in the box with me. After a couple of shots from the box’s official photographer, it was time for us to get off—there was a long queue behind our group.
How to get there: KL Tower is located on the fringes of the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve. The most convenient way to get there is by Uber or taxi, but there’s also a free shuttle service for those who will walk from the Bukit Nanas monorail station.
