Jetstar Asia announced two new routes out of Singapore recently, and the good news is that they can be flown too by those coming from Manila.
Starting November 3, 2017, the said airline will fly to Hat Yai in Thailand four times weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). Operated by Jetstar Asia’s fleet of 180-seat Airbus 320’s, the route will be the airline’s third destination in Thailand after Bangkok and Phuket.
Those flying from Manila can fly to Hat Yai with a 3hr55min convenient transfer at the award-winning Changi Airport in Singapore. This routing allows passengers to bypass the often-congested airports of Bangkok. Going back to Manila, meanwhile, allows a four-hour transfer in Singapore, which is enough time to explore everything Changi Airport has to offer.
A few days ago, on the other hand, Jetstar Asia announced that they will be starting direct flights from Singapore to Okinawa every Monday, Friday, and Sunday from November 17, 2017, also using their fleet of Airbus 320 aircraft. Block timed at 5hr10min, the route will be Jetstar Asia’s second longest, only less than a hundred nautical miles shy of its Singapore-Perth route.
Per the press release:
Okinawa, the largest of 160 islands between Japan and Taiwan, is an island-hopper’s dream destination. With many idyllic spots available for snorkelling, diving and ocean walking, travellers will enjoy all sorts of marine activities.
For travellers looking for a relaxing holiday, Okinawa is also known for its history, traditional culture, crafts and cuisine. The island is home to ancient castles listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. The islanders are also world-class masters of traditional crafts including distilling, glass making and pottery making.
It may seem counterintuitive to fly from Manila to Singapore then Okinawa, compared to flying via Tokyo or Osaka, but Jetstar Asia offers a low-cost option with a seamless transfer at the award-winning Changi Airport. In addition, transfer times can be as short as 1hr50min.
