Our friends from Jetstar Asia recently surveyed more than a thousand Singapore, and the results aren’t really surprising—that they wished they had traveled more for leisure, although money, work, and time constraints are holding them down. These most probably are the same reasons why Filipinos would rather hit the malls or stay at home and do a Game of Thrones marathon on weekends, instead of exploring what their own country and the rest of Asia have to offer.
Like Jetstar Asia, I’ve always believed that there are means to travel (and fly) cheap if only one has the willpower to. The good thing is, with Manila luckily being one of the cities where Jetstar Asia flies to, we can avail of their convenient flight times, great destinations, and low fares.
For instance, one time, we were able to fly out Friday night, taking advantage of Jetstar Asia’s 9PM after-work flight to Singapore; eat, rest, and shop at the award-winning Changi Airport for a few hours; and connect to a flight that brought us to Bali early next morning. With the airline, booking affordable weekend trips, even impromptu ones, is indeed possible.
In hopes to push well-deserved weekend trips further, Jetstar Asia has come up with #FridayFREEFlights where the airline’s social media fans from the Philippines, among other countries, may win two flight vouchers to and from Singapore. All they have to do is upload a selfie with the cover of their passport on Fridays, include a caption on where they’d rather be, use the hashtag, and post on social media. The contest will run every Friday from October 16 to November 13, 2015, thereafter on the last Friday of every month until May 2016 for a total of 11 rounds.
Further, instead of the usual Friday Fare Frenzy sale, the airline is offering Friday FREE Fare Frenzy, where passengers may book one of the destinations on sale for zero base fare and pay only the applicable taxes and fees. The promo will run for five Fridays, starting October 16, 2015, between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Philippine time.
