I am fond of the ibis brand of hotels, especially for city trips where I know I would be spending most of the day out. They’re affordable, they usually have a central location, and most of all, they follow high international standards, making me sure of what I am getting. Seoul has quite an expensive market of hotels, so I was relieved that it has several ibis properties. For its location, I selected ibis Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun, and I was frankly surprised how competitive its nightly rates were relative to the others.
ibis Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun is very much centrally-located. It’s less than 10 minutes by foot from the heart of Dongdaemun, which comprises the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, as well as a multitude of shops and malls. The subway is also a few blocks away, and bus stops surround the area.
ibis is a brand of economy hotels under the AccorHotels portfolio that it shares with Sofitel, MGallery, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, and Mercure. With over a thousand properties worldwide, the popular chain has simplicity, modernity, and well-being as its core values.
ibis Ambassador Seoul Dongdaemun embodies these core values. Although it’s simpler compared to more upscale hotels, its design is modern throughout, and its quality is up to international standards.
The hotel features only one room type, the standard room (with either a double bed or twin beds), which takes inspiration from upscale hotel rooms with its furnishing, subdued lighting, and choice of warm and natural colors. The rooms may seem compact in size, but their smart configuration maximizes space fully.
Rooms are furnished with the comfortable Sweet Bed by ibis, as well as a slew of amenities: a desk, LED TV, coffee and tea making facilities, refrigerator, and a small open closet with a safety deposit box. The separated toilet and bath, on the other hand, is clean and stocked with towels and amenities.
Although classified as an “economy hotel,” it still boasts of a handful of facilities and services, such as a fitness center, meeting rooms, an all-day restaurant, a rooftop bar, and a grab-and-go bar.
