A short distance away from the four terminals of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila, the international five-star Hyatt City of Dreams Manila is already the ideal airport hotel. But staying there, experiencing what it has to offer, we discovered why it’s great for travelers who are looking to spend a day, a night, or an extended layover in the bustling capital of the Philippines.
LOCATION
Hyatt City of Dreams Manila is situated just three kilometers approximately from the four terminals of Manila’s airport, and getting from to and from the terminals is easy with a taxi or Uber.
The hotel is within the expansive City of Dreams Manila, an integrated resort featuring international hotels and retail; world-class dining; and globally-renowned casino, nightclub and entertainment venues within Parañaque’s Entertainment City. Further, the hotel enjoys close proximity to the convention centers in Pasay and the SM Mall of Asia Complex—as these are all within the same area. A little further is downtown Manila, home to popular tourist attractions like Chinatown, Rizal Park, Malate, and the walled city of Intramuros.
STYLE/CHARACTER
Housed in two gleaming gold towers, Hyatt City of Dreams Manila, which stands noticeably even from afar, was created by award-winning architects Asya Design. Its sophisticated lobby, decked out in an attractive contemporary classic design, is one of the most gorgeous one can set foot in Manila.
Aside from being an excellent airport hotel, Hyatt City of Dreams Manila can very well host family getaways, especially with DreamPlay by DreamWorks nearby in the adjoining City of Dreams complex.
ROOMS
We luckily were allocated a Club room on the corner of the floor, so it was larger than the usual—though only marginally as all their spacious Club and Deluxe rooms are at least 50 square meters. The room was excellently laid out and styled contemporarily. Bold shades of red, complemented by earth tones and dark faux wood surfaces, and the sleek furnishing made the room feel new and modern. Floor-to-ceiling windows that revealed a view of the pool added a sense of space.
The room had everything travelers would need and more, starting with the comfortable bed fitted with 300-thread count linen. It was perfect after a tiring day out. Likewise, the room had a work desk, a large LED TV, an iPod dock, and a sitting area. The bathroom, on the other hand, was immaculate, and it featured a nice spa tub, a walk-in shower, and fragrant bath amenities that we liked.
FACILITIES
We had access to the hotel’s Club Lounge, a chic space that serves not only all-day refreshments but also breakfast and evening cocktails. We found the selection of food during their cocktails to have great variety, not to mention tasty too.
The hotel’s huge swimming pool, which guests look forward to, is perfect for hot and humid Metro Manila. It’s complemented by facilities that on-the-go travelers would find convenient, like a fitness area and a salon.
FOOD AND DRINK
The Cafe is an interactive show-kitchen restaurant that serves buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We’ve had great experiences with it in the past, and it was excellent with breakfast too. We loved their selection of Western, Asian, and Filipino fare.
SERVICE
The staff were friendly, attentive, and efficient, especially at the Club Lounge, where our every need was taken care of with a smile.
VALUE FOR MONEY
By Manila standards, rates at HYATT City of Dreams Manila is above the average, but among international five-star hotels in Manila, its rates are competitive. Further, we believe that with the quality of its rooms, facilities, food, and service, its rates are good value for money. It’s clearly among the best airport/gateway hotels in Metro Manila.
