I was in Bangkok recently, and once again, I was on the hunt for a hotel that I could recommend to friends and family. I had always wanted to stay at Holiday Inn Bangkok Sukhumvit, since I’ve had several great experiences with Holiday Inn properties elsewhere. I also liked the location—having passed by it many times—as well as its attractive price point. Luckily, a chance for me to stay there a couple of nights came up.
Holiday Inn Bangkok Sukhumvit sits squarely on the intersection of Sukhumvit Road—the busiest thoroughfare in Bangkok—and Sukhumvit Soi 22. Its prime, tourist-friendly location enjoys proximity to two BTS stations (Asok and Phrom Phong), one MRT station (Sukhumvit), and major shopping malls near these metro stations, such as Terminal 21, EmQuartier, and Emporium. With the abundance of Grab and Uber in all of Bangkok, its easy to hail a car from the hotel and access the rest of the city.
From Don Mueang International Airport (IATA: DMK), it was a quick drive for us to the hotel, since our Uber driver took the expressways. We were led up upon arrival to the hotel’s sky lobby, where we were swiftly handed our keys by the friendly and polite front staff.
We were billeted in a Premier Room located in one of the higher floors of the hotel. In terms of design, I loved how it looked more modern and elegant compared to other Holiday Inn properties I’ve stayed at, thanks mostly to the neutral color scheme.
Our room came with a suite of features expected of an upscale hotel, including comfortable twin beds with both firm and soft pillows, a work desk, a lounging chair with side table, an LED TV, minibar with coffee and tea making facility, ample closet space, and for us millennials, plenty of power points, among others. The bathroom was spotless, and it had all the necessary bath amenities.
We had our breakfasts at Zeta Cafe, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant. The selection of Thai, Western, and Asian dishes was quite extensive, and we enjoyed the local dishes most especially.
The hotel boasts of a handful of facilities—including its swimming pool with an awesome view of the surroundings, a fitness center, and meeting rooms.
