Whenever I exit the train station in Bandung, the first sight I would see would be that of Hilton Bandung, for the hotel is practically adjacent to the train station. I had always been curious about it because admittedly, I was surprised that the global hotel chain set up shop outside Jakarta and Bali. Well, I had the chance to stay at the said hotel, and it honestly exceeded my expectations.
The hotel’s located in the heart of the city—it’s adjacent to the city’s main train station and a few minutes away by car from the international airport of Bandung. The city center, places of interest, and Bandung’s famous factory outlets are also easily reachable from the hotel by foot, by taxi, by Uber, or by ojek (motorcycle taxi).
I was pleasantly surprised as I entered the hotel. I was expecting a small lobby—since the hotel didn’t look too big from afar—but what welcomed me was quite the opposite. The modern and classy-looking lobby was larger than most hotels I’ve stayed at in Indonesia, and it had a high atrium too.
After my reservations were arranged, I was promptly handed the keys to my room by one of the friendly front staff. I was allocated a King Deluxe Room on a higher floor for a nicer view of the city.
Like in the other Hilton hotels I’ve stayed at, the room was contemporarily styled—earth tones that dominate the room were matched with a colorful textured carpet and wooden panels. I liked how it looked.
Being a room in a Hilton, all the conveniences expected of a high-end hotel were present, starting with The Hilton Bed by Serta, which features patented technology that “improves circulation and reduces night time restlessness.” The bathroom, set in marble, had a powerful shower and amenities by New York-based brand, Peter Thomas Roth.
I had my breakfasts at Purnawarman Restaurant, the hotel’s all-day restaurant. What I liked about their buffet was that there were many local choices. At that point, I had been staying in different hotels and resorts for more than a week, so I appreciated the variety.
On my last morning in the hotel, I was able to check out and use its facilities. The hotel has a gorgeously-landscaped swimming pool, a fitness room, and a spa. These are on top of the hotel’s top-class MICE facilities.
