One afternoon, I was invited to the #100HappyActs event by our friends from Happy Socks Philippines. For those who haven’t heard of this cute brand, it’s a Swedish company, started by Viktor Tell and Mikael Söderlindh in 2008 in Stockholm, that offers quirky and fashionable socks and underwear. And recently, managing partners Katherine Sy and Diana Ong, out of their love for colorful things, brought Happy Socks here.
As I’ve researched, Happy Socks is such a hit globally that it is sold in over 6,000 boutiques in 70 countries, and it has standalone stores in Shibuya, Tokyo and New York City. Among those who have been spotted wearing them are Hollywood stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Zac Efron, Paris Hilton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gwen Stefani, and Jessica Alba. The brand has also collaborated with artists, the most recent one being hip-hop mogul Snoop Dogg.
Happy Socks have zany and unique design collections that they can surely be collectibles. The good news is that, here in the Philippines, there are two collections released per year—spring/summer, which has been available since February, and fall/winter, which is dropping in stores starting August. Soon enough, they’d be introducing athletic socks and underwear as well.
I’ve been donning Happy Socks on my trips because not only are they cute but they’re comfortable too. And by the way, that’s me rocking a pair of them by the poolside—weird, right?
