A lot of times when I’m traveling, I usually go for affordable accommodations—the reason being I’ll be out a lot. I’m good with a standard room, long as the location is good. Locally, I already stayed twice at a place called Gran Prix Hotel Manila in Ermita. Read more…
Gran Prix Hotel Manila’s foremost selling point is its location. It can be found right in the heart of Ermita District in Manila, where hotels, restaurants, and nightlife hotspots are aplenty. Jeepneys, taxis, buses, and the metro line serve the area, so accessibility isn’t a problem.
While all traveler needs can be satisfied within close proximity, the hotel is also walking distance from Robinsons Place Manila and the promenade of Manila Bay. Rizal Park, the walled city of Intramuros, and SM Mall of Asia are short jeepney rides away, while Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport can be reached within a maximum of 30 minutes by taxi.
I stayed at a deluxe room during my first stay with them, while on my second, I was given a superior room. Both room types shared the same features and amenities, but basically, the differences were the room size and the bath tub available in some of their deluxe rooms.
Decor was minimal, but I like how the wall paint and the lighting created an ambient, relaxing setting. The beds were comfortable enough, and thankfully, the rooms were equipped with a strong air-conditioning units, which made them ideal after a hot day out in humid Manila.
My rooms both had an LCD TV, a telephone, a dresser, a closet, and bath amenities. Their bathrooms were basic but definitely clean. Wireless broadband was also complimentary.
During both my stays, breakfast was served at the hotel’s Namayan Restaurant, where I was made to choose among plates of Filipino favorites. The food was good, and the service, much like in the front desk and the rest of the hotel, was hospitable.
In all, Gran Prix Hotel Manila is a great choice in the area. Aside from the good location, the hotel provides the features and amenities necessary for travelers at affordable rates.
