Our friends at Globe Telecom brought us to the City of Smiles for Masskara Festival 2014, along with Instagram maven Cheyser Pedragosa, TV heartthrob Juancho Trivino, and our Ka-Globe friends Cat Trivino and Cid Santillan. We had one heck of a time, enjoying the festival and everything that went with it, while connected to a wonderful network. Read more…
WONDERFUL FESTIVAL
The Filipino take on the mardi gras, Masskara Festival is practically a masquerade on the streets. Villagers from around Bacolod don lively costumes, fancy masks, and ginormous headgears embellished with sequins, feathers, beads, and a whole lot of color. They synchronously dance to jovial beats and compete in the annual competition.
As it was my first time to attend that particular fiesta, I was really, really thrilled when we went to the streets of Bacolod to join in on the fun. Never mind the throngs of people—long as we were able to mingle with the dancers and take selfies while we were at it.
WONDERFUL PARTIES
We all know how partying is embedded into Tattoo’s DNA, so throughout the year, the brand brings in top DJs in mega concerts, festivals, and events. At Masskara Festival 2014, they held Elektromundo, a revelry at the L’Fisher Chalet where the lineup was composed of Manila’s top DJs and homegrown talents from Bacolod. For two nights, we danced wildly to sick beats by the likes of DJ Nina, Deuce Manila, Inno Naguit, Martin Pulgar, and Mars Miranda.
Our friends from Globe Prepaid, meanwhile, also took a slice of the action by supporting RAVE: The Masskara Warehouse Experience. A packed event attended by locals and tourists alike, it featured the likes DJ Funk Avy and ex-child star-turned-DJ Tom Taus.
WONDERFUL EVENTS
Right outside SM City Bacolod, throngs of people gathered for TM Astigfest. It was a fun carnival-like experience with a ton of food stalls and of course, freebies and offers from TM. Later that night, after Bacolod’s local bands, top OPM group Kamikazee went onstage amid screaming fans.
But perhaps the biggest nightly event came from our friends from Globe. Practically closing down North Capitol Road, the Globe Village was filled with wonderful activities and festival experiences, including games, auctions, and face paint. Globe Mobility Store-on-the-Go was parked there to offer a great selection of offers and freebies for postpaid and prepaid subscribers.
Held there too was the much-awaited Masskara 2014 Next Act, an entirely free street party where every night, local and international DJs, including Mars Miranda, Eric Capili, Badkiss, and Callum David, spun top EDM hits and originals. Nearby at the Tattoo booth, meanwhile, brand ambassador DJ Mars Miranda shared his talent to his students every night.
WONDERFUL FOOD
Bacolod is a haven for foodies, no doubt, so our friends at Globe made sure we were getting fed with the best food the city has to offer. Aside from the classic chicken inasal from Aida’s, we had cakes from Calea, and fresh seafood from 18th Street Pala-Pala, among others. I’ll be sure to write more about our Bacolod food trip in a separate article.
WONDERFUL PLACES
When we weren’t out on the streets partying, we managed to do some sightseeing. Because Cat and Juancho were first-timers that part of the country, we went to the city’s must-sees like the San Sebastian Cathedral, the heritage houses of Silay, and of course, the majestic Ruins of Talisay, where we were educated and entertained by its famous guide and funnyman, Kuya Roger.
WONDERFUL NETWORK
All of us are social media junkies, without a doubt, so thankfully, Globe Telecom’s empowered network supplied us with speedy 4G HSPA+ reception all the time. Even when the crowds were thick, our mobile postings were relentless.
Globe’s dominating internet speeds is backed by data from Open Signal, an app that crowdsources network data to assess which network performs best in a certain location. Indeed, in Bacolod as with the entire Philippines, Globe tops download and upload speed, and 4G and LTE are prevalent in key areas.
Globe Telecom, by the way, recently announced that its 4G coverage is now throughout the country unlike its rival, and this is on top of the free Facebook for all subscribers they brought back recently. With Globe, customer experience is indeed more wonderful!
Watch out for the next festival Globe Telecom will invade. In the meantime, follow them on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest promos and updates!
