It was the middle of Ramadan, so Bandung (and most of Indonesia) had little action, allowing plenty of spare time for me to spend. Thankfully, I was staying at Four Points by Sheraton Bandung—a centrally-located hotel with gorgeous colonial architecture—that made my stay in Bandung worthwhile.
Four Points by Sheraton Bandung sits along Jalan Ir. H. Djuanda, one of the city’s major thoroughfares. This means Bandung’s major attractions, including its famous factory outlets or FOs, are easily accessible by cars and motorbikes from ride-hailing apps Grab and Go-Jek. The city’s airport and main train station aren’t far away from the hotel either.
The select-service Four Points by Sheraton is now under the Marriott International portfolio, which it shares with well-loved brands like the W, the St. Regis, Westin, Le Meridien, and Aloft. With the mantra “Travel Reinvented,” the brand provides its guests with “Simple Pleasures”—“everything you need, plus the style and extras you love.”
I arrived in the hotel late into the morning, and I was stunned at how gorgeous its colonial architecture and design were. It was unlike the other Four Points by Sheraton properties I’ve stayed at—though also appealing, those seemed basic in comparison.
I was upgraded to a Premium Room on one of the hotel’s higher floors. Surrounded by whitewashed walls, the lavish-looking room was stunning in its colonial motif.
Clearly conceived with today’s travelers in mind, it came with everything I needed for my stay, starting with the cozy Four Comfort Bed. Meanwhile, the bathroom that followed the room’s classic design was immaculately clean.
Staying in the hotel during the holy month of Ramadan, I was able to partake in Iftar or breaking of fast at the all-day Saffron Restaurant. The buffet, consisting of mostly classic Indonesian dishes, was extravagant, and the cost was an unbelievable bargain too.
It was also at Saffron Restaurant where I had my buffet breakfasts. Again, since it was Ramadan, daytime service had to be discreet to accommodate non-Muslims—though not as concealed as more conservative Islamic cities like Dubai, for example.
Since Bandung wasn’t teeming with activity as other months, I spent quite some time in the hotel, enjoying its swimming pool and fitness center.
