Our friends at UNIQLO Philippines invited me to the launch of their Lifewear 2014 Fall/Winter Collection. Its timing couldn’t have been any better because I actually was outlining what clothes to bring to my yearend trip to a country that has a true winter season. And so checking out their new catalog, I picked some absolute must-haves. Read more…
HEATTECH
They’re taking this signature UNIQLO offering up a notch. This 2014, they’re making the HEATTECH line even softer and more stretchable—as if it already isn’t. It’s made from ultrafine fiber material that makes garments close-fitting but not constricting. I’m most probably getting HEATTECH white v-necks to be layered under a sweatshirt or a jacket.
ULTRA LIGHT DOWN
Ultra Light Down provides excellent warmth minus the bulk through its fill combination of 90% down and 10% feather. What I like about the pieces from the collection is that they can be stylishly worn as under layer or outerwear, and even more, certain styles can be packed into tiny pouches that are perfect for traveling. I have my eyes on the metallic green zip-up hoodie.
FLEECE
I bet a lot of us hate fleece garments that are heavy because they’re uncomfortable. But UNIQLO’s take on this sporty staple this season is extra warm but ultra light, thanks to the “mineral-infused heat storage thread that helps increase clothing temperature by about 1.5 degrees Celsius.” I’m getting the navy pullover, so I can easily match it with chinos.
EXTRA FINE MERINO
UNIQLO’s Extra Fine Merino line is updated with fresh designs, colors, and styles. But as usual, they’ve put in a special treatment for easy care. Thankfully, their merino sweaters don’t cost a bundle unlike those I’ve bought before, so I’m picking up one or two.
SWEAT
UNIQLO’s Sweat collection for this fall-winter season is their coziest yet, and like their Extra Fine Merino, it’s being refreshed with a slew of new items, among them hoodies in fun colors and designs. I’m seriously gravitating towards what Pharell is wearing in the photo above.
As with any of their clothes that I’ve come to love a lot, UNIQLO’s Lifewear 2014 fall-winter collection is functional, versatile, comfortable, stylish, and at the same time, affordable. So as you book your flights and plan your itineraries for the upcoming holiday break, be sure to drop by at a branch of UNIQLO Philippines too to check out and plan what pieces to bring—there already are 16 stores now with eight more coming up.
