I was staring blankly on the screen as I was composing the opening words to this article. “Every traveler needs a bag,” I thought, but I realized, that would’ve been one of the stupidest things ever written. But see, while it goes without saying that we travelers need a bag, we can’t own just any—it has to be roomy and sturdy, whilst being attractive. Crumpler Philippines sent me The Proud Stash, and I’ve been summer traveling with it. Read more…
It’s honestly my first time to own a bag from Crumpler, so I was eager to receive it. However, coming with the excitement were high expectations because I know some friends who swear by the brand—they told me their Crumpler bags have withstood time. And by the way, Crumpler’s very proud of their Legendary Warranty that lasts a lifetime.
What I have now is The Proud Stash, and I got it in Coral, which in their palette is more orange than pink. At first glance, it comes across as simple, minimalist, or what have you, but I like it that way. Sometimes, I do go for things that hold back with the embellishments.
The bag opens up at the top with a big zipper, which kind of reminded me of my good ol’ knapsack. Inside is a huge, huge space that I was able to fit six tees, two board shorts, and a whole bunch of stuff, good enough to last me for a four-day trip. I’m not exaggerating.
On the front is also a spacious pocket that could fit smaller items like toiletries and gadget chargers. Note that there aren’t any more pockets; hence, those two compartments are thankfully left with more utilizable space.
Is it durable? It’s been with me for more than a month now, and it hasn’t shown any sign of wear and tear at all, even with the heavy things I stuff inside. Admittedly, it does get dirty at times due to the bright color, but cleaning isn’t a problem because the dirt is easily removed with typical laundry soap and water.
The feature I love the most about this bag is its being lightweight. This is one of the lightest bags I have ever owned, thanks to the water-resistant Field Twill it was made of.
I’ve taken the bag around to my summer trips in places around the country, and here, it was photographed at Bluewater Sumilon in Cebu. But in Manila, I convert it into an everyday bag that I take with me to my Bahasa Malaysia classes and media events. It’s versatile indeed.
