For it is one of the Philippines’ hottest islands, Boracay sees new resort openings year-round. But truth be told, a lot of these resorts can be underwhelming, thus making the good ones few and far between. Ambassador in Paradise, despite being a classic in the island, has retained much of its charm and has proven that it’s still one of Boracay’s best. Read more…
Ambassador in Paradise is on the farther side of Station 1. Those familiar with the island know that that side is more tranquil than the others, maintaining a safe distance from the rowdy parties and packed restaurants at Station 2. Note, however, that the entire stretch of White Beach can be reached by a leisurely walk or a tricycle on the island’s main arterial road.
We got there amid an afternoon rain shower, which is typical during the monsoon months. Attendants, umbrellas in hand, immediately whisked our bags and invited us into the reception, where we were offered towels and refreshments. Friendly front staff informed us that our room was still being prepared because we were being upgraded to an Executive Ocean View Room. Pleased with the development, we didn’t mind that we had to wait a little.
The room was very spacious compared to other resorts we’ve stayed at in the past. But I guess what I liked most about it was the veranda that opened up to a splendid view of the resort below, and the beach and the waters beyond.
Our room had touches of both classic Filipino and oriental aesthetics, utilizing mostly neutral colors to please every holidaymaker’s taste.
The room featured a comfortable king bed, a dresser, an LCD TV with DVD, air conditioning, and luckily, a small fridge to cool our drinks. Towards the veranda was a sitting area with handsome lounge chairs, while at the back, the en-suite bathroom supplied with a full set of towels and amenities was sparkling clean and classy in marble.
Our breakfasts were served at the resort’s eponymous all-day dining restaurant that presents a range of cuisines by its chefs on-board. Every morning after partying out, we savored comforting meals offered both plated and at the buffet.
The resort’s sizeable pool enjoys a spectacular vista of the beach and the waters, and its beautiful beachfront, lined with its own lounge beds, has sand that’s white and very fine. I should stress that Boracay Island has one of the best beaches and sunsets in the world.
We spent afternoons luxuriating by the beach, lounging on beach beds, and sipping drinks from the resort’s bar. It was a memorable weekend in Boracay, and we have to credit Ambassador in Paradise a lot for it. The room and service were excellent, the beachfront was beautiful, and our location was just right. As a frequent visitor of the island, I can vouch that the resort is one of Boracay’s top picks.
