The Nordic country of Finland is represented by Oy Pyroman Finland, Ltd, a pyrotechnic outfit with over 15 years experience. Their projects include Eurovision 2007-2010, the Vancouver Olympic Games, Sochi Part, Canada 2010, and the Nightwish World Tour 2007-2009.
The second team to present that night was Portugal’s Grupo Luso Pyrotecnia. The team has received several awards, including 2nd Prize in Japan’s 2nd International Competition Huis Tem Bosch Pyrotechnician 2010, 3rd Prize in Portugal’s Festival do Atlantico 2010, and 1st Place in France’s International Fireworks Festival in Cannes.
Close Up Philippines also had a special fireworks exhibition between the competing teams. They are also giving away free silver tickets or discounts towards higher-priced ones with a 100 PHP Close Up purchase. Know more from this post.
Verdict: That night’s winner for me is Portugal. For one, their pyrotechnics are livelier. Plus, I preferred their mix of music better, as they combined classics, such as Mamma Mia, with contemporary ones, such as Coldplay’s Viva La Vida. Their team proved that their accolades are well-deserved and that their passion is evident.
The 3rd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition happens every 7PM Saturday night until March 17, 2012 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay. For ticketing information and schedules, visit www.pyrophilippines.com.
