With a history dating more than 50 years back, Mövenpick Ice Cream was built upon three key values, namely passion for gastronomy, best of nature, and Swiss perfection. All their ice cream are developed at their Excellence Center in Bursins and exclusively manufactured in a factory in Rorschach, both of which are in Switzerland. Their products are then carefully imported globally to hotels, fine dining restaurants, gourmet stores, and ice cream boutiques.
Their 22 flavors—ranging from classic Swiss Chocolate and Vanilla Dream to tangy Raspberry & Strawberry and Passion Fruit & Mango—were created by selecting only the finest natural ingredients, using no artificial additives, and paying extra attention to details. It goes without saying, therefore, that their ice cream is not only scrumptious but of high quality as well.
Khun Oz, our friend from Movenpick Thailand, met with me at their Mövenpick Ice Cream Boutique at CentralWorld. They currently have similar-format channels in Samui, Krabi, and Phuket.
Apart from the straightforward scoops in cones and cups, the boutique’s menu include sundaes, parfaits, affogato, and their special creations. Khun Oz was eager for me to try everything in the menu, but since I was having dinner with a friend afterwards, we agreed for me to try three, letting him pick what I should have.
We started off with their The Mystery Lava, their take on the classic chocolate lava cake paired with two scoops of ice cream. For an even more indulgent treat, I went for a scoop each of the classic Vanilla Dream and Swiss Chocolate. It was to die for.
Transitioning from rich to fruity, I chose the Raspberry Highlight. Stacked were Raspberry & Strawberry sorbet and Strawberry ice cream, fresh strawberries, strawberry sauce, and cream.
To explore more flavors, my last pick that afternoon was the Trio of Flavours, a pick-and-mix assemblage of three mini-scoops of ice cream and toppings. I went for Passion Fruit & Mango, Raspberry & Strawberry, and Pistachio for my scoops and complemented those with candied walnuts, slivered almonds, and fudge brownie. The Pistachio ice cream was the best I’ve ever had.
Sweet tooth satisfied, I was taken to look around the boutique and offered to try each flavor. Khun Oz proudly told me that they import and offer the entire Mövenpick Ice Cream line, and the secret to their crisp waffle cones is that they are baked fresh daily at the store using an imported mix.
So when you happen to be in Bangkok, be sure to drop by at the Mövenpick Ice Cream Boutique in CentralWorld. Again, it’s one of the few places you can get an exquisite Swiss ice cream experience right in Southeast Asia.
